The Nobel Committee should have known. They could argue they’d already made their decision. Problem is there was considerable evidence about the errors easily available long before. The President of the United States, Barack Obama has shares in Baxter, the company many say is responsible for the h1n1 swine flu pandemic. Back 2005 Barack Obama bought $50,000 worth of stock in two companies.

Right after he bought the shares also in 2005 Barack Obama (still a senator at that time) introduced the first comprehensive bill to address the threat of avian influenza pandemic. AVIAN Act (S. 969)

Then it makes it even more interesting that over $60 million dollars was awarded for a vaccine against the bird flu (2007) that at the time did not mutate till afterwards.

The guy sure knows his planning, I guess that is change you can believe in. From investor to President.

Stimulus update: $514K per job 'created or saved' in Dayton

The Dayton Business Journal reports:

The Dayton area overall has created or saved more than 623 jobs as a result of the $320 million in stimulus funding that has been awarded.

If you don't live in Dayton, you'll be happy to know that the federal government took your tax dollars and spent $514,000 per job to get Daytonians back to work. And that's assuming, contrary to our experience, so far that the jobs reported as "created or saved" are for real.

ASTEROID NEAR MISS: On Nov. 6th at 2132 UT, asteroid 2009 VA barely missed Earth when it flew just 14,000 km above the planet's surface. That's well inside the "Clarke Belt" of geosynchronous satellites. If it had hit, the ~6-meter wide space rock would have disintegrated in the atmosphere as a spectacular fireball, causing no significant damage to the ground. 2009 VA was discovered just 15 hours before closest approach by astronomers working at the Catalina Sky Survey.
