Magnetosphere Update - Saturday JUNE 2, 2012

The Japanese magnetosphere website has temporarily ceased updating since Monday April 2, 2012 to "develop more accurate and practical space environment models and will resume the real-time simulation in the near future" (http://swc.nict.go.jp/contents/rt_simulation_e.html)

The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) is an ionospheric research program jointly funded by the US Air Force, the US Navy, the University of Alaska and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
Geomagnetic storminess is usually indicated in oscillatory variations in the earth's magnetic field. Additional detail concerning the nature and severity of the ionospheric disturbance can be found through analysis of the three components of the field. Data from a chain of magnetometers are also available.

A magnetosphere is formed when a stream of charged particles, such as the solar wind, interacts with and is deflected by the intrinsic magnetic field of a planet or similar body. Earth is surrounded by a magnetosphere, as are the other planets with intrinsic magnetic fields: Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn…

The Kiruna magnetogram provides realtime data of the local Earth magnetic field at ground level. Strong deviations in the data, primarily the black line could signal the development of geomagnetic activity. The curves on this plot show deflections from an average. The average is derived from the monthly means of the five most quiet days.

6/2/2012 -- Possible tornado near Denver, CO -- Hail across 1/3 of US = NO warnings!

Maybe the NWS should change their name to the NO warning service...
Hail, damaging winds, and possible tornadoes over Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming ---- heading ENE towards the states of Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota.
Also.. strong cells still pulling ashore on the upper east coast .. with the large low pressure system pulling up (counterclockwise) from the south again---- currently parked over north Michigan and South Central Canada.
This storm up north is producing strong cell thunderstorms in the midwestern states of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York state.
There SHOULD be at least "watches" issued in these areas --- since its producing hail and damaging winds with possible tornadoes.... no excuse to NOT have a watch issued in these areas.. also OUT AHEAD in the states we know WILL be hit tonight at some point... into tomorrow.

East coast, Midwest, and northern states — all under severe weather at the current time (330pm CDT 6/1/2012) — expect this to continue overnight into 6/2/2012... both systems on the move , east coast storm heading up the east coast towards southeast Canada / Maine . Bringing damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes up the coast as this storm pushes further NE.
The south midwest — Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico — hail and damaging winds, as well as strong cell thunderstorms ... breaking out heading ESE from OKLATEX border region. This means .. watch Texas, Oklahoma New Mexico for additional strong cells to break out.
In the North midwest — South Dakota, North Dakota, and Minnesota — damaging winds, and hail detected heading ESE .. watch the north midwest for additional strong cells to develop.

Dutchsinse | 5/31/2012 -- Severe weather outlook = Tropics, West, Midwest, North, and South USA

Use the links here to monitor severe weather:
http://sincedutch.wordpress.com/2012/02/12/2122012-weather-monitoring-links-s...
In the South US currently we are seeing a large outbreak of hail, damaging winds, and possible tornadoes.
South Texas, entire state of Louisiana, East Arkansas, entire state of Mississippi, several portions of Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana --- also have damaging winds and hail detected ------- be aware of the possibility of tornadoes forming with these strong cell thunderstorms as well.
The whole system in the south US is heading northeast --- this means be alert in Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and possibly even West Virginia, Ohio, and Virginia.
New England states will see strong cell thunderstorms.... Pennsylvania, New York, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Delaware, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington DC.
Next systems forming off the West coast of the US --- Currently a large low pressure system coming in from the Northwest -- an arm of the system breaking off over Washington State and Oregon... will come over the north western states of Idaho, Montana, and south Canada (british columbia)...
Eventually the storm will form its own counter clockwise rotating low pressure system somewhere in the North to midwest USA.
This usually means... Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, and Wisconsin --- at some point in the next several days (after the system forms fully across the western states) ... will be seeing damaging winds, hail, and possible tornadoes.
Further south... off the coast of Baja Mexico down to the south in the tropics... we see a low pressure system far out in the mid-pacific .. blocking the tropical flow and turning portions of the warm moist equatorial air flow north EAST towards Mexico and the SW USA.
We may even see an additional tropical storm or hurricane develop (like Hurricane Bud this previous week)... if it forms, it will form further south than T.S. "Bud"s origin point.
Also watch the central midwest states of Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio.... when the storm to the northwest fully forms, and mixes with the southern flow from the tropics... the midwest might be in position for another serious outbreak.

Dutchsinse | 5/31/2012 -- Japanese officials forecast LARGE Tokyo earthquake soon

Original link here:
http://www3.nhk.or.jp/daily/english/20120531_11.html
Japanese researchers say a massive earthquake could occur off a peninsula to the east of Tokyo, in an area separate from the one that triggered the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923.
The Geospatial Information Authority of Japan reported to a government panel on Wednesday that analysis of global positioning system data shows that the tip of the Boso Peninsula has been moving about 3 centimeters north each year since 1997.
The authority says quake-causing strain may be building up in the area, where a marine tectonic plate slides under a continental plate.
The situation is similar around the Miura Peninsula to the south of Tokyo, near Yokohama.
Pressure there was released in the 1923 earthquake, but the area off Boso Peninsula has not had a major quake for at least 300 years.
Researcher Takuya Nishimura says an earthquake occurring in this zone could have a magnitude of around 8. He says the authority will continue its analysis to increase the accuracy of its estimations.

5/30/2012 -- Severe weather update = Extreme weather in TX, OK, KS, MO, AR

Severe weather continues to break out across the south , and Midwest USA ---- Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas -- tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail detected in several of the strong cell thunderstorms.
Also watch the southern states... Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida --- already hail detected -- will most likely receive some portion of the storms over Texas now.
