Todays soldier is enhanced by human controlled robots. Tommorows soldier will be a soldier cyborg, a cybernetic organism enhanced by everything technology has to offer. The future of combat holds even greater prospects for autonomous robots that kill at their own discretion.

Guinea's junta leader Capt Moussa "Dadis" Camara was attacked by soldiers from his own presidential guard on Thursday but he survived, his communication minister said.

The only way to stop the killer carp, say environmentalists, is to close down the locks that connect the Mississippi to the Great Lakes — a move that could devastate the shipping industry and push up prices of iron ore, coal, grain and other goods.

The number of serving American military personnel who took their lives in 2009 has already exceeded last year’s record. These suicides are first of all tragic. Secondly, they indicate the immense psychological harm that the neo-colonial wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have inflicted on members of the armed forces.

While the media focuses on the number “30,000” (as in the number of new troops being sent to Afghanistan), an even larger number has widely been ignored: 100,000.

Russian banks have been expanding their portfolios of industrial assets taken over from companies that failed to repay loans this year. What share of the Russian economy now belongs to the banks?

Iran has imported piles of North Korean-made conventional weapons, the Washington Post reported Thursday, even though both countries are under UN sanctions over their nuclear programs. Weapons also went to two Palestinian militant organizations, the Iran-backed Hezbollah and the Islamist Hamas, the paper said.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin pledged radical measures to end a surge of militant violence in the North Caucasus, but said a new war is not expected in the region.

North Korea's surprise decision to redenominate its currency has prompted panic and despair among merchants left with piles of worthless notes, even driving one couple to suicide, activists said today.

European banks are emerging from the credit crisis bigger than before, posing more risk to their national economies.

Ben Bernanke on Thursday urged Congress not to take away the Federal Reserve’s bank supervision powers or curtail its independence even as he admitted that the US central bank had made regulatory mistakes in the run-up to the crisis.

The CJ also called a detailed report from the Foreign Ministry on a plea to order the search of the US Embassy to recover illegal weapons. The counsel also said that the Sihala Police Training Centre commandant had also complained that explosives were being heaped in the centre and he was not allowed to visit the sites. Seeking search of the US embassy, Barrister Zafarullah [the petitioner’s counsel] said the day Blackwater had stepped into Pakistan, terror acts and suicide attacks had been scaled up. The counsel also alleged that in the US embassy illegal arms and ammunition were being stored, which were being used for "sabotage acts" in the country.

Mr Prince, aside from his work in Iraq, set up America’s closest forward operating base to the Pakistani border in Afghanistan, and helped to train a CIA assassination team that hunted an alleged senior al-Qaeda financier in Germany, and included A. Iraq war inquiry sees fingers pointed at US 04 Dec 2009 The Iraq inquiry has produced another week of compelling evidence. We are beginning to understand how and why Iraq ended up in such a parlous state after the 2003 invasion. A number of witnesses have pointed a finger of blame at the United States for the chaos that ensued. Sir David Manning, Tony Blair's former foreign policy adviser, set the tone with a withering attack on the Americans for their post-war planning.

The finding marks the first time in four decades that such a large number of Americans oppose US foreign policies.

The scientist, 59, was found dead in woods near his Oxfordshire home in July 2003, after being named as the source that claimed the Government had "sexed up" a dossier on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction. Tech Report Shows Response Gaps --The president's office, two academic buildings were also shut down 'well before' general alert 04 Dec 2009 Some Virginia Tech officials warned their own families and the president's office was locked down well before a campus-wide alert was issued in the 2007 slayings of 32 people, according to a revised state report that details new fumbles in the response to the worst mass shooting in U.S. history. At least two officials with a crisis response team called their family members after the first shootings at a dorm and about 90 minutes before the all-campus alert was issued at 9:26 a.m. The president's office was locked down at 8:52 a.m. and two academic buildings were also shut down before the general alert. Children were also more likely to suffer soreness at the site of injection as well as drowsiness, irritability and loss of appetite after the second dose. Experts at the European Medicines Agency (EMEA) said the "findings were unexpected, as they were not seen with the mock-up vaccine".

As Obama opens jobs summit, he faces limited options for growth --Many ideas that would greatly increase deficit are likely to be rejected 03 Dec 2009 Creating jobs is a political and economic imperative for President Obama, who is holding a high-profile jobs summit Thursday that aides hope will demonstrate his concern for the plight of everyday Americans. Obama has summoned 130 corporate executives, economists, small-business owners and union leaders to the White House to sound out ideas for accelerating job growth during the worst labor market in a generation.

US economy remains devastated despite improved jobs figures By Andre Damon 05 Dec 2009 The US economy lost fewer jobs in November than in any other month since the recession [Bush Depression] began, according to the latest jobs report from the Labor Department. But overall economic conditions continue to worsen for the majority of the population, with wages falling and no return to normal job conditions in sight... The last time the US economy added jobs was in December 2007. About 100,000 jobs need to be added per month to keep up with new entrants into the labor force.

Environmental group sues EPA on polar bear pesticides --Suit links pesticides to damaging bioaccumulation in Arctic 03 Dec 2009 An environmental group announced today that it is suing the Environmental Protection Agency for "failing to consider" the affect of pesticides on polar bears and their Arctic habitat. Melting polar bear ice sculptures to raise climate awareness 04 Dec 2009 A polar bear sculpted out of an 11-tonne block of ice will be unveiled in Copenhagen Saturday, then left to melt to raise awareness about global warming during the UN climate summit, organisers said. The life-size sculpture will feature a polar bear skeleton made of bronze inside the ice. Previous lead stories: Gates: 'No deadlines' on troop withdrawal --Afghanistan drawdown could take 2 to 3 years, defense secretary says 04 Dec 2009 The withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan, scheduled to begin in July 2011, will "probably" take two or three years, Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said Thursday, although he added that "there are no deadlines in terms of when our troops will all be out." The Pentagon, meanwhile, quietly acknowledged slippage on the front end of the 30,000-troop deployment that President Obama authorized for the first half of 2010. [There is no deadline on when the troops will be out, but hopefully there *will* be one on when this Administration is out. And that will be November 2012. We need an actual progressive to run for president in 2012. --LRP]

C.I.A. Is Expanding Drone Assaults Inside Pakistan [So is Blackwater.] 04 Dec 2009 The White House has authorized an expansion of the C.I.A.’s [killer] drone program in Pakistan’s tribal areas, officials said this week, to parallel the president’s decision, announced Tuesday, to send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan. American officials are talking with Pakistan about the possibility of striking in Baluchistan for the first time... The drone program has enjoyed bipartisan support in Congress and was escalated by the Obama administration in January. More C.I.A. drone attacks have been conducted under President Obama than under President [sic] George W. Bush. The political consensus in support of the drone program, its antiseptic, high-tech appeal and its secrecy have obscured just how radical it is. For the first time in history, a civilian intelligence agency is using robots to carry out a military mission, selecting people for killing in a country where the United States is not officially at war.

'It was designed to make punishment inevitable.' Military tribunals quietly resume at Guantanamo Bay 04 Dec 2009 Military tribunals at Guantanamo Bay, which President Obama suspended amid much fanfare immediately after taking office, quietly resumed this week with new signs of the legal complexities of the cases and the challenges for prosecutors. The military court had to grapple with determining where a defendant, Ibrahim Ahmed Mahmoud al Qosi -- and by extension other detainees prisoners -- stand under the new military commissions law enacted in October to provide more due process for detainees. Under the old system, Qosi and other detainees were called "unlawful enemy combatants," but the new law refers to them as "alien unprivileged enemy belligerents," a moniker that military prosecutors said is more in line with the Geneva Conventions.

China wants their Panda back ...

December 4, 2009 - Washington's National Zoo is sending its beloved four-year-old panda, Tai Shan, to China under the terms of a loan agreement that brought the cub's parents to the nation's capital.

The popular cub, who was born in 2005 to international fanfare, was supposed to be sent to China two years ago, but extended its agreement with the zoo by two years.

Tai Shan's parents -- mother Mei Xiang and father Tian Tian -- are on a 10-year, $10 million loan to the zoo until 2010.

The cub has been one of the zoo's most popular attractions by simply sitting around eating bamboo shoots, climbing trees or napping in the sun. Even Tai Shan's birthday parties have been a huge hit.

Click here for a detailed timeline on Tai Shan's growth from around 1.82 pounds shortly after the cub's birtht to a current weight of well over 200 pounds.

Three other U.S. zoos also have giant pandas -- Atlanta, Memphis and in San Diego.

Click here to watch the Smithsonian National Zoo's live Panda Cam. (At last peek, Tai Shan was busily munching on bamboo.)

SpaceWeather.com | Yesterday, Dec. 4th, a billion-ton coronal mass ejection (CME) billowed over the sun's western limb

SOLAR ACTIVITY: Something has exploded on the farside of the sun. Late yesterday, Dec. 4th, a billion-ton coronal mass ejection (CME) billowed over the sun's western limb. Click on the image to view a movie of the cloud recorded by the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory:

The blast site could be one of two farside active regions currently under surveillance by NASA's STEREO spacecraft, but those active regions (see picture below) don't seem to be in the right place to hurl a CME over the sun's western limb.

The source might reveal itself in the days ahead as the sun's rotation turns unseen territory toward STEREO--or toward Earth. Stay tuned.

Essay On The Gathering Storm

"You'll be saddened by the death of friends and relatives who are brave enough to fight and die for something they believe in."

From Naval Aviator, Commander Jerry Wilson

We lived in California during the winters of 2007 and 2008. We became addicted to Fox News and watched O'Reilly and Hannity and Colmes every night. When we got back home, we upgraded our cable to get Fox. I watched the Presidential campaign very closely. Initially because I thought the Democrats would nominate Hillary Clinton and then in astonishment when they chose an even more hard-left candidate. All of last year I told everyone that Obama was not a Democrat, he was a Marxist. He is far to the left of any European leader and even far left of the NDP.

I read Saul Alinsky when I was in University. I studied him and his writing carefully. When Bill Ayers and his wife were bombing and killing people at random in the Weather Underground, Weather Underground and the Black Panthers were closely allied. I read David Horowitz's account of changing from a Marxist to a conservative after seeing that the government was afraid to prosecute members of the Panthers for murdering his personal assistant. He suddenly understood the evil that Marxism really was.

After the student radicals failed in creating a Marxist revolution in the United States by violent means, they embraced Alinsky. You would be wise to read "Rules for Radicals" because it outlines how Hillary and Obama planned to get into power, and what they intended to do when they got it.

Socialism is not the correct descriptor for what Obama and the Democrats are doing. They are going to be much more far reaching than anything Sweden has ever been able to do. Obama is following Alinsky's plans, those set out in "Rules for Radicals" and his other writing. The Democrats are attempting to create one party rule in the U.S. and in achieving that, will create crisis after crisis by their own actions and use those crisis to nationalize the means of production in the U.S. You are in the middle of a communist revolution and few in the U.S. can actually see it for what it truly is.

The U.S. is now on the path of financial destruction. The Constitution has been shredded and individual human rights are being trampled. In less than 8 months Obama has used a recession to take over the two largest industries in the U.S. He will debase the Dollar and is on the road to creating an incredible energy shortage that will allow him and Congress to take over the energy industry.

But by and large I think that by the 2010 elections, the Democrats will have gerrymandered electoral districts to the point that it will be impossible for them to lose control of both houses of Congress. The incredible increase in the money supply is going to create Zimbabwe and Venezuela style inflation, and with it, controls on the currency and the amount of money that can be taken out of the country.

I love America, I cannot believe how the ignorance of the American public has created a situation whereby they are going to lose their Republic and slip into an age of repression and tyranny.

I may be nuts, but so far I have been 100% in my predictions of what Obama was going to do, because I merely had to look at "Rules for Radicals" to see what was coming next. I read Glenn Beck's book, "Common Sense" and in it re-read Thomas Paine's pamphlet with the same name. I recommend the book.

When the storm finally hits (and it will) those of you who supported the Obama administration will be affected as well. It won't just be us gun owners or Flat-Taxers, or Pro-Lifers that get hit. You'll be right there next to us.

You all thought the Conservatives were nut cases. You know - all of us who believe in God, small government, the Second Amendment, etc. You thought you could just go back to sleep after the election was over. In your world, America will continue as before. You'll still have the same rights, the same nice house, the same big screen television. After all, your high school football team won and the other team lost - go team! Even if you have bothered to look up from the daily grind since Nov 4th, you dismissed everything that has occurred as "politics as usual--the same old stuff".

In the end, it'll all be OK won't it? Not this time.

There are a growing number of citizens in the US that are ready to fight to shut down the government's grab of personal freedom, its blatant abuse of the constitution, and its attempt to replace the American way of life with socialism. You have to listen carefully to hear them, but they are there. I won't start that fight, but when it goes down I will join it.

As for you? You'll be shocked because you didn't see it coming.

And eventually you'll be saddened when you see that we have truly lost the way of life with which you grew up. You'll be saddened that your children and grandchildren live in a socialist, government-controlled gulag where their every movement from cradle to grave is tracked by the government. But most of all, you'll be saddened by the death of friends and relatives who are brave enough to fight and die for something they believe in.

You know, McCain wasn't much of a candidate. I'll give you that. He was the lesser of two evils for most of us. I don't blame you for not voting for him since, at the time, you didn't know w hat we all know now. But at least John McCain was an American. He was a supporter of the American way of life and he understood that you can't negotiate with terrorists. He understood and appreciated the sacrifice made by my father and other members of the Greatest Generation.

Mark my words friends. All across America groups are forming. They are forming out of anger and out of desperation at the thought of losing America. They're not militia groups, terrorists as the Department of Homeland security would have you believe; they are Americans, loyal to the constitution. They are mothers and fathers and grandparents. They belong to groups like the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps, the Peaceful Resistance, the Constitution Party, the Young Conservatives, the 9/12 Project, and Grassfire. Right now they are fragmented, each focused on their own cause. But sometime in the next two years, our government is going to do something really stupid and these groups will come together. Watch for it, Wait for it. Get ready. It will happen.

When that event happens, whatever "it" is, our great country is going to plunge into chaos for a while. I pray to God that we make it through that time and emerge a stronger, smarter country.

Nebraska Abortion Doctor Plans to Expand His Operation

An abortion doctor says he will likely perform more late-term abortions at his Nebraska practice instead of opening a new Kansas clinic to meet the demand left when Dr. George Tiller was shot and killed earlier this year.

Dr. LeRoy Carhart said Friday he thinks expanding his practice in the Omaha suburb of Bellevue may be the best option.

Carhart says his lawyers are telling him he's not breaking state law by performing late-term abortions in Nebraska, but he hasn't made a final decision yet.

The Nebraska doctor has said he was a close friend of Tiller and performed abortions at Tiller's Wichita clinic.

Carhart twice has appeared before the U.S. Supreme Court to challenge bans on a procedure its opponents call partial-birth abortion.

Time to Cancel the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Withdraw Nobel Prizes From Them and Gore
Canada Free Press

Gored

Al Gore is the only Nobel Prize winner, whose work was ruled politically biased and containing nine major scientific errors by a court (UK) a week before it was awarded. The Nobel Committee should have known. They could argue they’d already made their decision. Problem is there was considerable evidence about the errors easily available long before. Clearly they didn’t do their homework, so their decision was purely political. The Prize should be revoked. ....

Could Climategate Unravel the UN’s Plan to Rule the World?

In a matter of days, President Obama will write a brand new chapter in American history, one that fulfils the promise of change that the Americans asked for, but not necessarily the change that they hoped for. What I am speaking about is the Copenhagen Climate Treaty that President Obama had promised to sign around December 9, 2009, that could forever surrender American sovereignty.

Now with the emergence of Climategate as reported all over the internet, and Senator Inhofe’s calling for an investigation into that matter which implies that the top UN climate scientists had cooked the science of climate change for profit . . . the signing of this document has been supposedly postponed, but the President still has plans to make the trip to Copenhagen anyhow.

Will President Obama sign this treaty behind closed doors despite the allegations that Climate Change may be a fraud? Will he sign it like the President George W. Bush signed the Sovereign Prosperity and Partnership agreement in Ottawa, in secret? No one knows for sure.

The mainstream media isn’t saying much about anything, and they certainly aren’t warning the American people is that this treaty is less about the climate and more about establishing an international carbon tax and finalizing the framework for a new layer of government, one that is international in scope and whose “rules of law” will govern the conduct of all UN member nations. What else they aren’t saying, is that there will be no pulling back out of this agreement without the unanimous consent of every UN member nation.

This movement has been fueled for many decades, but it went virtually unnoticed until 1991 when George H. W. Bush announced to Congress, the coming of the New World Order, the first steps to setting up a global community and changing the way America conducts its business forever. A few months later on February 1, 1992, he made another speech to the United Nations General Assembly, and stated . . .

“It is the sacred principles enshrined in the United Nations charter to which the American people will henceforth pledge their allegiance.”

... Under the World Trade Organization (WTO), the states must become compliant with the United Nations mandates, in order for them to continue receiving welfare funding from Washington for the people. Under this agreement the States must also support and make preparations to adopt the following:

1) The Codex Alimentarious (UN takeover of the food code and classifying vitamins as toxins, while making outlawed toxins– legal)

2) Universal Health Care (UN takeover of health care, population control, firearms control)

3) Agenda 21 (UN takeover of America’s agricultural output, farmland and water rights, relocation of people)

4) World Trade Organization (UN takeover of all manufacturing and trade)

5) Sovereign Prosperity and Partnership agreement (open borders with Canada and Mexico, the forming of the North American Union and creating a gold or silver backed universal currency)

6) Cap and Trade, and the Copenhagen Climate Agenda (UN takeover of all taxation, transportation, energy etc.)

7) Coordination of International Regulation (The UN takeover of the Federal Reserve System, the Securities and Exchange Commission, all issuing of currency, all government loans, collateral and the economy).

The list goes on and on . . .

Let the truth be known to all, until the American people realize that the United Nations is the oppressor, despotism will always be on our doorstep.

REP. MATT SHAE INTRODUCES 5 STEP PLAN TO FREEDOM
By Dr. Laurie Roth
December 4, 2009
NewsWithViews.com
The sleeping Giant has awakened. People are marching on Washington, T parties are growing and faxes are flying to congress. We ain’t at all happy. The push for a Government health care bill is non-constitutional, immoral and we can’t afford it, while the push toward global warming this or that is based on ‘lost’ data and false science from mad magazine. Yes, indeed the people have woken up and we are grumpy, with bad breath and desperate to find our coffee.

It’s Over, Al Gore
Abandon your lucrative carbon-scheming, admit there was never a ‘consensus’ and give back the Nobel Peace Prize

Aaron Dykes

JonesReport.com
Al Gore has just cancelled a high-profile appearance at the upcoming Copenhagen climate change conference only days after ‘ClimateGate’ revelations cast doubt on the legitimacy of the scientific ‘consensus’ (“hiding the decline” is not scientific in any respect). Just days ago, CRU director Phil Jones stepped down from his position at East Anglia University.

Climategate: Michael ‘Piltdown’ Mann throws Phil Jones out of the sleigh as panic grows
By Gerald Warner

TelegraphUK

December 4th, 2009
When a pending investigation provokes panic among suspected wrongdoers, the first thing to collapse is any sense of solidarity in their ranks. A week ago you could not have put a fag paper between Michael “Piltdown” Mann, of hockey stick notoriety, and Phil Jones, the then director of the Creative Research Unit at the “University” of East Anglia. In those confident days, the communal line was that some hackers had stolen university property, Plod would soon be on the case, so move on, please, nothing to see here.

Taibbi: Obama’s sellout to Wall Street creates ‘permanent bailout’
By David Edwards and Daniel Tencer

RawStory.com

If passed as it is, the financial reform bill winding its way through Congress will create a “permanent bailout mechanism,” and will give complete control over future bailouts to the White House, says columnist Matt Taibbi.

Predictions for 2010…Good News - Bad News
Roger Wiegand

SilverBearCafe.com
Will 2010 be a 1930 or, comparable to 1937? Is it different this time? When one nation state of a formerly high productive stature destroys itself with inflation, the untouched others can soften the blow and in time bail out the fallen one. This was Germany’s fate in the 1920’s. In our current instance, most all of the world’s economies are on their knees with some hurting worse than others. Who can help with recovery this time? There is no one. It will not be China as some suppose as China shall suffer the same systemic collapse as the U.S, and all of Europe, Russia, and South America. China’s neighbors Japan, Taiwan, Korea, India, Indonesia and others will join the fallen.

Feds Think They Have Won This Fight Against the Depression

What’s new in the financial world? Well, the Dow sold off a little yesterday. Gold rose another $12. Otherwise, not much new. Same scams. Same frauds. Same claptrap and bunkum.

Obama the Desperate
The desperate war cries of a besieged president

By Alexander Cockburn

TheFirstPostUK
Ritual triumphalism about America’s righteous mission in the closing sentences of his speech did not dispel the distinct impression during President Obama’s 33-minute address to cadets at West Point on Tuesday night that we were listening to a man defeated by the challenge of justifying the dispatch of 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan.

The Foxes Guard the Financial Henhouse
Whom is Congress putting in charge of the market for credit-default swaps?
By Daniel Hemel

Slate.com
Ever since his inauguration, President Obama has confronted charges that he has let proverbial “foxes” stand guard over the financial henhouse. Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Gary Gensler is a former Goldman Sachs partner, and Treasury Chief of Staff Mark Patterson is a former Goldman lobbyist. In both cases, Obama actually tapped ex-foxes: Gensler left Goldman in 1997; Patterson severed ties to the firm in 2008.

Dump US dollar, invest in commodities: Jim Rogers
By David Lew

CommodityOnline.com
The US dollar is increasingly getting battered by global investment pundits. Singapore-settled billionaire commodities investor Jim Rogers says it is high time small-time and big-time investors dumped the American currency. Instead, Rogers says, investors should shift their money from dollar to commodities.

Plundering California
Steven Greenhut

City-Journal.com
The economy is struggling, the unemployment rate is high, and many Americans are struggling to pay the bills, but one class of Americans is doing quite well: government workers. Their pay levels are soaring, they enjoy unmatched benefits, and they remain largely immune from layoffs, except for some overly publicized cutbacks around the margins. To make matters worse, government employees—thanks largely to the power of their unions—have carved out special protections that exempt them from many of the rules that other working Americans must live by. California has been on the cutting edge of this dangerous trend, which has essentially turned government employees into a special class of citizens.

AN OPEN LETTER TO AMERICA’S CHRISTIANS
By Chuck Baldwin
December 4, 2009

NewsWithViews.com

I was led to Christ at the tender age of 5 while sitting on my mother’s lap. I was raised in a devout, churchgoing Christian home. I have been in Gospel ministry all of my adult life (I am 57 years old). I have attended or have degrees and/or diplomas from 4 fundamentalist/evangelical colleges or Bible schools. I have been the Senior Pastor of a local Independent Baptist congregation for 34 years and counting. I have spoken in churches and Christian gatherings all over the country. I say all of that simply to provide my Christian credentials (in much the same way that the Apostle Paul provided his Jewish credentials in Philippians 3:5,6). As such, I believe I know something about the attitudes, conduct, philosophy, mindset, etc., of America’s Christians. I am not an outsider; I speak as one within the conservative/fundamentalist Christian camp.

Dry Valleys, Antarctica

The McMurdo Dry Valleys are a row of valleys west of McMurdo Sound, Antarctica, so named because of their extremely low humidity and lack of snow and ice cover. Photosynthetic bacteria have been found living in the relatively moist interior of rocks. Scientists consider the Dry Valleys to be the closest of any terrestrial environment to Mars.

With its 14 spectral bands from the visible to the thermal infrared wavelength region and its high spatial resolution of about 50 to 300 feet, ASTER images Earth to map and monitor the changing surface of our planet. ASTER is one of five Earth-observing instruments launched Dec. 18, 1999, on NASA's Terra satellite. The instrument was built by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. A joint U.S./Japan science team is responsible for validation and calibration of the instrument and the data products.

The broad spectral coverage and high spectral resolution of ASTER provides scientists with critical information for surface mapping and monitoring of dynamic conditions and temporal change.
