High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP)

The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) is an ionospheric research program jointly funded by the US Air Force, the US Navy, the University of Alaska and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).

Geomagnetic storminess is usually indicated in oscillatory variations in the earth's magnetic field. Additional detail concerning the nature and severity of the ionospheric disturbance can be found through analysis of the three components of the field. Data from a chain of magnetometers are also available.

Solar activity continues at very low levels with only B-Class flares detected within the past 24 hours around both Sunspot 1555 and a returning region off the southeast limb. The returning region appears to be old sunspot 1545 and will soon begin to rotate back into Earth view.

Here is a new SDO/AIA 171 image showing a bright area located off the southeast limb. This appears to be old Sunspot 1545. This region does not look to be very active at this time. No Coronal Mass Ejections off the limb have been detected within the past 48 hours.

Solar activity is again at very low levels on Tuesday morning. New regions 1556, 1557 and 1558 were numbered on Monday. Sunspot 1556 rotated onto the western limb and 1557 has already faded away. All other visible regions remain stable. There will be a chance for isolated C-Class flares.

This is not a good development .
Tropical storm ISAAC (set to become at least a catagory 1 hurricane by landfall) is heading directly for the coast of Louisiana.
The eye of the storm is projected (official path trajectory) to pass directly over the Bayou Corne Salt dome sinkhole collapse.. dumping feet of rain on an already unstable area.. sitting adjacent to a 1.5 million BARREL salt dome filled with liquid butane.
The storm is then projected to head north towards Missouri.. and then break east northeast towards New England.

Dutchsinse | 8/26/2012 -- MASSIVE Earthquake Swarm in South California = BE PREPARED

0 miles ENE of Tijuana Mexico -- near the border of California and Mexico -- a series of mid-range earthquakes (5.0M and 4.0M) struck.. followed by multiple DOZENS of subsequent earthquakes in the same location ... a swarm ... not really aftershocks.. since the largest of the tremors was a 5.4M.
Which, to me, means we need to watch for a LARGE earthquake at the end of this chain reaction.. the 5.4M wouldn't be large enough to cause such movement that we're actually having.
If you live in the southern California area -- or along the west coast extending near the fresh lava fields off the coast of Oregon... also along the edge of the north American Craton... New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri.. and the east coast states extending northeast to New Brunswick Canada.
Be prepared for followup movement in adjacent areas to the south California swarm zone.

Southern California Rattled by Quake Swarms - Sunday AUGUST 26, 2012

Several earthquakes were felt in San Diego around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

According to the USGS, a 5.3-magnitude quake rattled Brawley, Calif., at 12:30 p.m. A 4.9-magnitude quake followed minutes later in the area, as well as several lower magnitude earthquakes.

The epicenters were about 11 miles from Imperial, Calif., and 15 miles from El Centro, Calif.

According to the USGS, there have been roughly 20 lower magnitude earthquakes in the Brawley area today.

In San Diego, residents across the county reported feeling the quake in places including downtown San Diego, Mission Valley, Santee and Chula Vista. No injuries were reported.

San Diego State University geology expert Pat Abbott told NBC 7 San Diego that Sunday’s earthquakes were in the middle of the Brawley Seismic Zone, famous for swarms of quakes. He said he expected aftershocks.

“[The Brawley Seismic Zone] is a broad zone with lots of little faults,” explained Abbott.

“This area has clearly activated. We will likely experience swarms of 3, 4 and 5-magnitude [earthquakes] but they are not likely to increase in intensity. Of course, there are no guarantees on this, but history says they likely won’t get bigger – that we will experience more of the same or smaller quakes,” he added.

As of 1:30 p.m., San Diego Fire Dispatch had no reports of earthquake-related damages or injuries in San Diego county.

At around 1:40 p.m. Southern California Edison posted this update to their Twitter feed: "Earthquake felt in [San Onofre power plant] SCE _SONGS control room. Plant is safely shutdown."

At 1:57 p.m., USGS reported another 5.4-magnitude earthquake centered three miles from Brawley, Calif.
