The Australian | Tiny US state of Delaware beats Switzerland in a contest for most secretive financial jurisdiction, a tax justice rights group said

November 02, 2009 - The United States, led by the eastern seaboard state, took in $2.6 trillion in deposits from non-resident corporations and individuals in 2007, according to a survey of financial jurisdictions analysed by the Tax Justice Network.

The survey of laws, practices and size of inflows in 60 jurisdictions found Delaware coming in first, followed by Luxembourg and then Switzerland.

The Cayman Islands and the United Kingdom round out the top five.

"While the US has been jumping up and down and saying 'Aha, bad, wicked Swiss banks,' the US is doing exactly the same things as far as non-resident bank account holders," Tax Justice Network executive director Sarah Lewis said.

Switzerland has been the poster child for financial secrecy over the past year.

The United State sued Swiss global banking giant UBS AG , which paid a US$780 million ($874 million) fine to settle a lawsuit against it by the Government.

As part of the deal, UBS admitted it actively helped Americans evade US taxes.

The ranking is based on a composite of total offshore activity and measures such as whether a jurisdiction obtains beneficial ownership information about companies and the degree of cooperation in turning over requested financial information.

Delaware is attractive because it does not tax profits realised outside the state and does not require companies to be physically present, according to the Tax Justice Network.

UBS and Credit Suisse have about 200 entities in the state, according to the group.

There are nearly 700,000 active entities registered in Delaware - and about half of those publicly traded in the United States, according to the group.

Total US deposits of non-residents rose from about $1 trillion in 2001 to $2.6 trillion in 2007, according to the study.

In Luxembourg, non-resident deposits rose to $500 billion from $101 billion over the same period

In Switzerland, such deposits rose to $1.45 trillion from $103 billion during the period.

The Flu Case | Are Populations Being Primed For Nano-Microchips Inside Vaccines?

It's almost surreal, like something out of a sci-fi flick, but nano-microchips invisible to the naked eye are a reality that are already being hosted in wide-range of applications. The question is, how long will it take governments and big pharma to immerse nano-microchips inside of vaccines to tag and surveil global populations?

Nanotechnology deals with structures smaller than one micrometer (less than 1/30th the width of a human hair), and involves developing materials or devices within that size. To put the size of a nanometer in perspective, it is 100,000 times smaller than the width of a human hair.

More than ten years ago, simple low-cost techniques improved the design and manufacture of nano-microchips. That unlocked a multitude of methodologies for their manufacture in a wide-range of applications including optical, biological, and electronic devices.

The joint use of nanoelectronics, photolithography, and new biomaterials, have enabled the required manufacturing technology towards nanorobots for common medical applications, such as surgical instrumentation, diagnosis and drug delivery.

Japan's Hitachi says it has developed the world's smallest and thinnest microchip, that can be embedded in paper to track down parcels or prove the authenticity of a document. The integrated circuit (IC) chip is as minute as a speck of dust.

Nanoelectrodes implanted in the brain are increasingly being used to manage neurological disorders. Mohammad Reza Abidian, a post-doctoral researcher at the U-M Department of Biomedical Engineering said that polymers in nanotubes "are biocompatible and have both electronic and ionic conductivity." He further stated "therefore, these materials are good candidates for biomedical applications such as neural interfaces, biosensors and drug delivery systems."

Depending on the objectives of such studies, research could theoretically pave the way for smart recording electrodes that can deliver drugs to positively or negatively affect the immune response.

Through nanotechnology, researchers have also been able to create artificial pores able to transmit nanoscale materials through membranes.

A UC biomedical engineering study appearing in the journal Nature Nanotechnology, Sept. 27, 2009, successfully inserted the modified core of a nanomotor, a microscopic biological machine, into a lipid membrane. The resulting channel enabled them to move both single- and double-stranded DNA through the membrane.

Professor Peixuan Guo who led the study said past work with biological channels has been focused on channels large enough to move only single-stranded genetic material.

"Since the genomic DNA of human, animals, plants, fungus and bacteria are double stranded, the development of single pore system that can sequence double-stranded DNA is very important," he says.

Such engineered channels could have applications in nano-sensing, DNA sequencing, drug loading, including innovative techniques to implement DNA packaging mechanisms of viral nanomotors and vaccine delivery.

"The idea that a DNA molecule travels through the nanopore, advancing nucleotide by nucleotide, could lead to the development of a single pore DNA sequencing apparatus, an area of strong national interest," Guo said.

Scientists working at Queen Mary, University of London, have developed micrometer-sized capsules to safely deliver drugs inside living cells. These "micro shuttles" could hypothetically be loaded with a specific microchip controlling the dose of medication to be opened remotely, releasing their contents. Besides monitoring the dosage, the same microchip could be used to surveil the patient in conjunction with various tracking systems.

Scientists in the United Kingdom have recently reported advances towards overcoming key challenges in nanotechnology. They demonstrated how nanoparticles could move quickly in a desired direction without help from outside forces. Their achievement has broad implications, the scientists say, raising the possibility of coaxing cells to move and grow in specific directions.

Doug Dorst, a microbiologist and vaccine critic in South Wales, says these advances have an immense appeal to vaccine makers. "Biotech companies and their researchers have quickly moved most funding initiatives towards nanotechnology to increase the potency of their vaccines," he said. If microorganisms inside of vaccines can be coaxed into targeting or invading specific cells, they could achieve their goal at an accelerated rate over conventional vaccines. "Depending on which side of the vaccine debate you're on, whether pro or con, nanobots inside vaccine preparations could advance their effectiveness exponentially by either dramatically improving or destroying immunity depending on their design," he added.

Dorst claims that present day nanobot technology could just as easily be used to advance biological weapons as they can to advance human health. "For every fear that biotech propaganda proliferates about deadly diseases and how vaccines prevent them, it is one more lie to incrementally convince the masses that vaccines are effective."

The worry for Dorst is that one day vaccines "will do what they've always been intended for...control of the global populace." FULL STORY

PR Newsire | U.S. Inflation to Appear Next in Food and Agriculture

The National Inflation Association today released the following statement to its http://inflation.us members:

"While most mainstream economists such as Nouriel Roubini are warning of deflationary threats to the U.S. economy, it is our belief that massive price inflation has already begun. The Federal Reserve's policy of massive monetary inflation in 2009 has caused the Dow Jones to bounce over 50% from its low, oil to rise 100% from its low, and gold to surge to a new all time nominal high. One NIA co-founder just saw his health insurance premium rise 16% over a year ago; and the average tuition for a four-year public college increased this year by 6.5%.

Prices are rising all around us, yet agricultural commodities have for the most part been left behind and remain at historically depressed levels. Fundamentals for agriculture are improving on a daily basis. A worldwide shortage of farmers combined with food inventories falling to record lows is setting up the perfect storm for an explosion in agriculture prices. There is a huge opportunity today to invest at the ground-floor into what will likely be one of the biggest boom industries of the next several decades.

Wheat is currently down 60% from its all time nominal high set in 2008 and 80% from its inflation adjusted high set in the 1970s. Corn is currently down 50% from its all time nominal high set in 2008 and 75% from its inflation adjusted high set in the 1970s. Wheat and corn have only bounced 13% and 26% from their 52-week lows this year respectively. While sugar has faired much better and is now at a 28-year nominal high, sugar is still down 70% from its inflation adjusted high set in the 1970s.

With crude oil back above $80 per barrel, we will soon see a renewed interest in alternative energy. This will create increased demand for wheat, corn and sugar which are used to make ethanol and other biofuels. A massive rise in agriculture prices is just around the corner.

We receive countless emails on a weekly basis asking about if Real Estate is now a good investment and if rents will likely climb during hyperinflation. While rents will increase nominally during hyperinflation, they will plummet compared to agriculture. No longer will Americans eat more than most other countries, yet spend less of their income on food. When Americans are forced to pay more for food, it will take away from what they can spend on rent.

The average American consumer today spends approximately 30% of their income on housing and only 10% of their income on food. We expect these numbers to reverse in the years ahead as the U.S. dollar loses its purchasing power. In Germany during hyperinflation, rents fell from 30% to less than 1% of the average households' expenditures while food rose from 30% to a high of over 91%.

The U.S. is currently the world's largest exporter of wheat and corn and the fifth largest exporter of sugar. When American consumers purchase food at their local supermarket, they are competing against consumers from all around the globe. As the Federal Reserve prints trillions of dollars out of thin air and causes our currency to lose its purchasing power, Americans won't be able to afford to eat as much and farmers will be forced to increase their exports to countries with stronger currencies.

When it comes to an apartment in the U.S. that a landlord is trying to rent to a tenant, there is no global market to drive rent prices up. The rents landlords receive depend on the strength of the local U.S. economy. With unemployment continuing to surge and a huge glut of homes on the market, it is only a matter of time before real rent prices decline and become a smaller monthly expense than food.

While Americans will eat less in the years ahead, Chinese citizens will be able to afford to eat more. Despite China's rapidly growing economy, there are major food shortages in China. Chinese agriculture companies have a chance of becoming the market's biggest gainers of the next decade. Our last China agriculture stock suggestion gained over 83% after our profile in a little more than six months. We will be announcing our new China agriculture stock suggestion on Tuesday."

Reuters | Largest Banks Reported Funding Production Of Cluster Bombs - Internationally Banned Weapons

Leading banks have funded arms manufacturers, whose products include cluster bombs, to the tune of $5 billion in the past two years, despite an international accord to ban such weapons, a study said Thursday.

The report by Profundo consultancy and several NGOs said the banks loaned money to companies whose products include cluster bombs or their components.

It did not say the funds went directly to make cluster bombs. The manufacturers could use the money for any of their production lines.

The top five loan providers were Bank of America, Citigroup , JP Morgan, Barclays and Goldman Sachs, the study said.

NewsWithViews.com - Derry Brownfield | Obama’s Youth Corps - No previous experience is needed in order to apply

November 1, 2009

Back in 1980 one of my sons sold books for SOUTHWESTERN PUBLISHING COMPANY. At that time the book company recruited college students, who went door to door and sold educational type books. It was a great learning experience for the students and my son earned enough during the summer to pay for his senior year in college. The Obama administration is now recruiting college students that will not only get paid for knocking on doors but will “earn college credits” while advocating for change. It’s called ORGANIZING FOR AMERICA (OFA) and could be a part of Obama’s young and educated civilian army.

The OFA website states: “Students and young people were critical in building the movement that helped elect President Obama last year. By becoming a National Organizing Intern, you’ll be part of the grassroots effort to make the change we fought for a reality in 2009 and beyond. As an Organizing Intern, you’ll work side by side with OFA staff and community leaders to help build support for President Obama’s agenda. You’ll learn core organizing principles that are crucial for any campaign and play an important role in building our organization in your state. If you’re passionate about making sure every American has quality health care, reviving our economy and building a clean energy future, don’t miss this great opportunity. No previous experience is needed in order to apply.”

I wonder if Mr. Obama read PROVERBS 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” How much training and indoctrination will these young people receive before they become full fledged soldiers in Obama’s Civilian Army? If they haven’t been thoroughly brainwashed while attending the government run public schools, they will most certainly be “educated” by the anti-capitalists, anti-Christian, anti-Constitution left-wing of the Democratic Party. Although they won’t have been taught to consider themselves Communist, they will understand “Social Justice” and they will be the “caring persons” who will lead their generation into “The New World Order.”

Also – is just any college going to accept credit hours for knocking on doors? Will a college accept credit hours for a student’s Marxist ideas? Will only a liberal college accept Obama hours? Will “knock-on-door-Obama-hours” be transferable from one college to another? And there’s the part about “No previous experience is needed in order to apply.” I believe that statement was used by Bill Clinton when he was interviewing interns.

Technology Review | Airport Body Scanners use Terahertz Wave that not only show you naked, they also have the potential to wreck your DNA

Technology Review
November 1, 2009

Editor’s note: Airport body scanners not only show you naked, they also have the potential to wreck your DNA. The body scanners use terahertz waves to show your privates and terahertz waves rip apart DNA, as the following article explains.A new model of the way the THz waves interact with DNA explains how the damage is done and why evidence has been so hard to gather.

Great things are expected of terahertz waves, the radiation that fills the slot in the electromagnetic spectrum between microwaves and the infrared. Terahertz waves pass through non-conducting materials such as clothes , paper, wood and brick and so cameras sensitive to them can peer inside envelopes, into living rooms and “frisk” people at distance.

The way terahertz waves are absorbed and emitted can also be used to determine the chemical composition of a material. And even though they don’t travel far inside the body, there is great hope that the waves can be used to spot tumours near the surface of the skin.

With all that potential, it’s no wonder that research on terahertz waves has exploded in the last ten years or so.

But what of the health effects of terahertz waves? At first glance, it’s easy to dismiss any notion that they can be damaging. Terahertz photons are not energetic enough to break chemical bonds or ionise atoms or molecules, the chief reasons why higher energy photons such as x-rays and UV rays are so bad for us. But could there be another mechanism at work?

Wall Street Jornal | Copenhagen Agreement is a Plan for World Government

The Wall Street Journal

November 1, 2009 - We can only hope that world leaders will do nothing more than enjoy a pleasant bicycle ride around the charming streets of Copenhagen come December. For if they actually manage to wring out an agreement based on the current draft text of the Copenhagen climate-change treaty, the world is in for some nasty surprises. Draft text, you say? If you haven’t heard about it, that’s because none of our otherwise talkative political leaders have bothered to tell us what the drafters have already cobbled together for leaders to consider. And neither have the media.

Enter Lord Christopher Monckton. The former adviser to Margaret Thatcher gave an address at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota, earlier this month that made quite a splash. For the first time, the public heard about the 181 pages, dated Sept. 15, that comprise the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change—a rough draft of what could be signed come December.

So far there have been more than a million hits on the YouTube post of his address. It deserves millions more because Lord Monckton warns that the aim of the Copenhagen draft treaty is to set up a transnational “government” on a scale the world has never before seen.

The “scheme for the new institutional arrangement under the Convention” that starts on page 18 contains the provision for a “government.” The aim is to give a new as yet unnamed U.N. body the power to directly intervene in the financial, economic, tax and environmental affairs of all the nations that sign the Copenhagen treaty. The Telegraph - Calcutta, India | Former US President George W. Bush shows appetite for humour & food at dinner meeting of INDO-US CEO's Forum

Monday , November 2 , 2009

The former US President was at a dinner meeting of the Indo-US CEOs Forum set up by him and Singh in 2005 to develop a road map for increased partnership and co-operation between the two countries at a business level.

Bush, however, repeated a joke he had made a few hours ago at the Hindustan Times Leadership Initiative in New Delhi.

“He said he recently visited a hardware store in Texas that had once offered him a job as a ‘greeter’ — (the employee) who stands outside to welcome customers,” the corporate honcho said.

Inside the store, a man came up and asked the ex-President whether anyone had ever told him he looked just like George W. Bush. When Bush told him that it happened a lot, the man said: “Gosh, that must make you mad.”

By all accounts Bush, once berated for blaming the rising prosperity of the Indian middle class for the spiralling global food prices, thoroughly enjoyed the Indian cuisine.

“He had two helpings of ras malai and generally ate well,” the CEOs Forum source said.

Not surprising for a man who had told an interviewer he would miss two things about the Presidency: flying in the presidential plane and the food at the White House.

TheTrucker.com | Pennsylvania officials submit more materials to get tolls on I-80

10/30/2009

HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and state highway department submitted supplemental materials late Thursday to the Federal Highway Administration designed to answer questions about the financial structure of a proposal to gain approval for tolls on Interstate 80, a plan that has generated spirited opposition in the northern part of the state.

The agencies provided a consultant's analysis that the value of the transaction would be in line with recent highway leases elsewhere in North America. The proposal calls for PennDOT to lease the roadway to the turnpike, which would operate the tolls.

It also provides more information about the money needed to maintain Pennsylvania's interstates, current conditions on I-80 and details about the nine proposed toll collection spots. FULL STORY

BuffaloNews.com | How trusty Washington Mutual became a predatory lender

November 01, 2009 SEATTLE — For decades, Washington Mutual lived up to its image as a staid, straightlaced Seattle institution. Its motto: “The Friend of the Family.”

By the time WaMu made history last year as the nation’s biggest bank failure, it bore no resemblance to this homey image. In fact, the bank had become one of the nation’s biggest predatory lenders.

In particular, the bank promoted as its “signature loan” a complex product known as the option ARM. This adjustable-rate mortgage, much like a credit card, gave borrowers the choice of making low minimum payments. But that option didn’t cover the interest and only dug them deeper into debt. Classical Marxism viewed the bourgeoisie and the proletariat as on a collision course that would end in violent revolution that would end capitalism and instill socialism. Once socialism had eradicated the last vestiges of capitalist domination it would evolve into communism. By the 1880s—at the end of Marx’s life—it was dawning on observers including Marx himself that violence was no more necessary than it was desirable. CREW Lawsuit Results In Release of Notes of Cheney's FBI Interview In Wilson Leak Case (CREW) 30 Oct 2009 Today, after successfully winning a lawsuit against the Department of Justice, under court order, CREW received documents related to former Vice President [sic] Dick Cheney’s interview with the FBI in the investigation into the leak of Valerie Plame Wilson’s covert CIA identity. The transcript reveals that Mr. Cheney -- generally credited with razor sharp intellect and recall -- demonstrated an astonishing inability to recollect even simple facts much less the numerous conversations others have testified to regarding his involvement in the administration’s efforts to discredit former Ambassador Joe Wilson. The transcript does indicate however, that Mr. Cheney held Mr. Wilson in low regard and called the CIA’s decision to send Mr. Wilson to Niger "amateur-hour." Summary Paragraph

Current PlanetoPhysical alterations of the Earth are becoming irreversible. Strong evidence exists that these transformations are being caused by highly charged material and energetic non-uniformity's in anisotropic interstellar space which have broken into the interplanetary area of our Solar System. This "donation" of energy is producing hybrid processes and excited energy states in all planets, as well as the Sun. Effects here on Earth are to be found in the acceleration of the magnetic pole shift, in the vertical and horizontal ozone content distribution, and in the increased frequency and magnitude of significant catastrophic climatic events. There is growing probability that we are moving into a rapid temperature instability period similar to the one that took place 10,000 years ago. The adaptive responses of the biosphere, and humanity, to these new conditions may lead to a total global revision of the range of species and life on Earth. It is only through a deep understanding of the fundamental changes taking place in the natural environment surrounding us that politicians, and citizens a like, will be able to achieve balance with the renewing flow of PlanetoPhysical states and processes.

THE METHODIC DEMISE OF NATURAL EARTH, by Dr. Michael Castle.

An Environmental Impact Overview By Dr. R. Michael Castle 27 March 2004.

In this century, we believe we are witnessing the gradual, purposeful demise of the Earth's Natural System. There are those who will debunk/dis-info all that is written regarding the subject of this paper: ChemTrails. ChemTrails are only a vague description, in lay-terms, of a greater theater of toxic materials being released into the atmosphere/stratosphere, for a myriad of crude and toxic agendas.

The author, Dr. R. Michael Castle, will attempt to put this Global debacle into a profile of events. Technical specificity of all the identified components would require at least a book in length, to recite them all. A short Bibliography follows, and links to various pertinent documents of unquestionable validity.

First Rule of Understanding: There are very large, winner-take-all games orchestrated by the Global Interests of the World. We have investigated, researched and found substantial evidence of a multiplicity of Global operations designed to mitigate various and theoretical Global catastrophes, as defined by a late 1980's and 1990's International Panel of Conferees. (The value of who are they, what's the politics smell like and all that is not of the utmost importance in our attempt, herein, to describe what serious destruction they have caused and are causing to Humans and our Finite Environment.
