Here is a new image courtesy of SDO showing a . A Coronal Hole represents a region in the corona that is cooler than it's surroundings and open magnetic field lines are present here. The solar wind flows from Coronal Holes at a higher speed and eventually gust past our planet if in a favorable position. The solar wind is expected to increase by September 21 and may lead to minor geomagnetic activity at very high latitudes.
