Moderate 4.7 quake strikes off US Caribbean islands

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - Seismologists say a moderate earthquake has struck north of the U.S. Caribbean territories of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands but no injuries or damage are reported.

The Puerto Rican seismic network says the Wednesday afternoon quake had a magnitude of 4.7 and the epicenter was located about 84 miles (135 kilometer) off Charlotte Amalie, the capital of the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the outlying Puerto Rican island of Culebra.

Island seismologists reported the temblor had a depth of roughly 69 miles (112 kilometers).
