GreatFallsTribune.com | World's oldest man honored in Great Falls

Walter Breuning, recognized as the world's oldest man, was honored by Burlington Northern Santa Fe officials Wednesday at Rainbow Retirement in Great Falls.

Breuning, 112, worked for the Great Northern Railway, predecessor of BNSF, for 50 years, retiring in 1963.

The railroad named a railroad siding near Broadview in eastern Montana after Breuning, and also donated $50,000 to the Shrine organization in Walter's name.

Breuning, who turns 113 later this month, was grateful for both honors.
