Approximately six weeks ago, a local golfer spotted a Red-tailed hawk on the ground at Mahoney Golf Course in Lincoln. The hawk was suffering from West Nile virus.
The golfer notified a group called Raptor Recovery Nebraska which found the bird and nursed it back to health.
Upon its recovery, the hawk was released Friday morning by Mahoney Golf Course employees Rick Schneider & Alan Culver.
It is the 255th bird that Raptor Recovery Nebraska has saved in 2009.
