Several senior U.S. officials said the administration is eyeing a soon-to-be-shuttered state maximum security prison in Michigan and the 134-year-old military penitentiary at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., as possible locations for a heavily guarded site to hold the 229 prisoners now jailed at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba. The administration's plan, according to three government officials, calls for: long-term holding cells for undetermined number of prisoners who will never face trial; building detention cells for prisoners ordered released by courts but still held behind bars.

Suspect arrested in LaGuardia bomb scare 01 Aug 2009 Authorities evacuated LaGuardia Airport's Central Terminal for several hours Saturday after a man with a bag containing wires and a battery entered the airport, a Port Authority spokesman said. The man is in custody, and authorities have allowed passengers back into the terminal, Port Authority spokesman John Kelly said. Authorities identified the man as Scott McGann, 32, of New York. Russia says it is prepared to use force to protect its troops and civilians in South Ossetia if Georgia continues its military provocations, according to Russian officials.
Earlier on Saturday, the South Ossetian Defence Ministry claimed one of its lookouts in the border zone was fired upon, although no casualties were reported.
Although South Ossetian authorities do not report any casualties in these alleged attacks, and Georgian officials deny all allegations of launching them, Russia’s Defense Ministry has called the incident a provocation.
"Events in August 2008 developed in line with a similar scenario, which led to Georgia undertaking military aggression against South Ossetia and attacking the Russian peacekeeping contingent," the Ministry officials said, as quoted by RIA Novosti.
According to Russian officials, this was not the first provocation in the last four days. The Defense Ministry says it intends to use all its resources to protect South Ossetian and Russian citizens in the region, including the peacekeepers.
"In case of further provocations threatening the republic's population and the Russian military contingent deployed in South Ossetia, the ministry retains the right to use all available means and forces to defend the nationals of South Ossetia and Russian servicemen," Russia’s Defense Ministry has warned.
Speaking of the resources Russia now possesses since recognizing South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent states and signing the documents on co-operation and defense, nearly 4,000 Russian troops have been stationed in both areas for defense purposes.
Even now, almost a year since the conflict ended, the local population continues to suffer from the trauma of the short war and these latest incidents, therefore, only aggravate the situation.
Russia and CIS expert, Leonid Gusev, explains:
“First of all, President Saakashvili is thinking about the promises he made when he was elected for his first and second terms in office, when he said that Abkhazia and South Ossetia would become part of Georgia's territory. So, his actions are addressed to Georgians and he wants to show the west that he is the person who can control the situation.”
It has been just under one year since the conflict in South Ossetia erupted. It ended with a ceasefire agreement, or with the so-called Medvedev-Sarkozy plan, and Russia has been fulfilling its obligations under this plan.
In the case the allegations of Georgian mortar shots on the South Ossetian territory are true, then it would be a serious violation of the ceasefire agreement.

Since I published this paper in the Fall of 2005, I've had difficulty understanding (and, in turn, explaining) what my confidential sources had learned in classified government briefings about coming rapid, violent, ocean-related events, including flooding, and tsunamis (tidal waves). The explanation of the source for the water for these events being melting ice simply flew in the face of these events happening in such a short span of time (four weeks).
When I first learned that U.S. Government scientists were stating that the Arkansas-Missouri Ozarks could become a series of islands, I had difficulty understanding "Where's all that water coming from?"
As it turns out, the answer is quite common knowledge in the disciplines of geology and oceanography: the water is in the oceans already! It's always been there!
The size of the world's ocean's is a bit difficult to wrap your brain around. Of the 197 million square miles of planetary surface, 139.5 million square miles are oceans!
According to the University of Southern California (USC) Geology Department, the world's oceans vary in their levels by 180 meters (highs to lows) that's 594 feet! This is major part of the puzzle as to where all the water will come from that will cause worldwide tsunamis (tidal- waves) and worldwide flooding! These variations in ocean levels are (I quote from USC): "Caused by gravitational differences resulting from irregularities in the lithosphere." Professor McCanney states that the Earth's rotation is the major factor in this phenomenon.
Here's what this means in plain English. The oceans have millions of square miles of water above what we think of as sea level. The oceans also have millions of square miles of water below what we think of as sea level. Go back to what the USC says above. This accounts for how the water stays in place (gravity & Earth's rotation). What is necessary to cause worldwide tsunamis (tidal waves) and worldwide flooding? New, outside forces that disrupt the Earth's rotation that currently keeps the water where it is. Plus vast quantities of water from space.(2)
A disruption in the Earth's rotation in either speed ( normally 1,000 miles per hour) or direction (a pole shift), These possibilities are incorporated in what Professor McCanney calls "action at a distance, caused by very large comet"(2) and the Earth is in deep trouble in a matter of a month (or less). Ladies and gentlemen, as I state above, the water for world-wide tsunamis & world-wide flooding is already in the world's oceans!
The records, both in geology and historical(4), reflect that multiple events will be occurring simultaneously i.e. melting ice in the Antarctic & Greenland, earthquakes, tsunamis (tidal waves), flooding, torrential rains, abrupt (tropical to arctic minutes!) climate change, 200 MPH winds, volcanism, the Gulf Stream stopping and dare I say: a pole shift!
My best information is that these ocean-related events will take about 30 days to reach North America once the triggering mechanism occurs. Be advised: It (the triggering event) may not be something you are aware of! Also, the 30 days may end up being 3 hours!
I advise elsewhere in this paper (and frequently on my radio show) that the time to prepare is now! In spirit, in body, in skills, and in substance.
