NORTH PLATTE -- A heavy, wet snow is knocking down tree branches and knocking out power to some parts of southern Nebraska.
An outage was reported on Thursday morning in the southwest Nebraska towns of Maywood and Curtis in Frontier County. Linda Werkmeister with Curtis Light and Water says about 400 customers total in the two towns lost power about 5:30 a.m. She says it was restored a little after 9 a.m.
The Frontier County Sheriff says roads in the area are treacherous. To the north in Lincoln County, about 12 inches of snow were reported southwest of Brady.
Snowfall ranged from 2 to 4 inches in and around North Platte, with 7 inches reported south of town. A winter weather advisory remains posted for much of southwest and central Nebraska.
