Hail Storm Pounds Parts Of Garden State of New Jersey With Several Inches; Residents Watch In Amazement As Plows Clear Streets

A satellite image provided by NASA shows a smoke plume from the Sarychev Peak volcano in Russia's Kuril Islands on Saturday.

Smoke, ash from Russian volcano may delay Vancouver flights

VANCOUVER — Asia-bound flights leaving Vancouver International Airport might be delayed or cancelled in the next few days because of smoke and ash from a volcano in the north Pacific.

Airlines that might be affected are Air Canada, Air China and China Eastern out of the Vancouver airport.

Air Canada said in a release Monday that volcanic activity at Sarychev Peak, a remote volcano in Russia's central Kuril Islands, is the source of the trouble.

Delays or cancellations are possible for the next several days to major Asian destinations including Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Flights originating in Toronto should see "minimal" delays, said Air Canada in a news release.

Passengers should check with their airline for updated flight information and check www.aircanada.com or www.yvr.ca for updates on the situation. (Air Canada toll free info line: 1-888-422-7533.)

Benjamin Fulford | The Japanese arrested in Italy with $134 billion were part of a CIA black-ops

The Japanese citizens arrested in Italy last week carrying bonds worth $134 billion were part of a CIA black-ops linked to the Nazi faction, according to high level intelligence sources. The CIA front behind this operation is known as Mayflower and is linked to a malevolent Chinese faction that wishes to restore dynastic rule in China. One of the Japanese arrested was probably a Mr. Fukushima, who works for the puppet emperor of Japan and the CIA and the Rothschilds. The operation is also linked to former Japanese Prime Minister and Bush slave Junichiro Koizumi as well as the current CIA-bribed traitor Prime Minister Taro Aso. They were hoping to use the money in part to operate a massive psy-ops in Japan designed to keep the current slave government in charge after elections that must be held by September 11th of this year. For the sake of humanity and the planet, they must not be allowed to redeem those bonds. We can also add that as a direct result of these arrests that faction has contacted us and proposed talks in Switzerland. We will accept.

Giant underwater volcano Columbus, situated in the Aegean sea registering earthquakes, hot air eruptions

Giant volcano smoldering under the sea of Santorini

Дата: 13 June 2009 :: 00:59:29

The under-water volcano Columbus, situated 6,5 meters south-east of Santorini in the Aegean sea, is being observed with great interest by Greek and German scientists. The have registered constant earthquakes of 4 Richter, hot air eruptions and continuous changes in the sea floor around the crater. The volcano is 470 meters high and reaches down to 17 meters beneath the sea floor. Its crater’s width is out of proportion- 1.5 kilometers. Complex submarine equipment has shown that Columbus’s volcanic activity never stops. It is the reason for the frequent earthquakes and constant changes in the surface around the crater.

“The distortion of the sea floor is minor but it can be seen on the walls of the crater and in the 10-15-kilometers perimeter around it,” says Martin Heds from the Geology and Seismology institute to the Hamburg University. According to him, this does not indicate an eruption in near future. The last eruption of Columbus was in 1650. “Reservoirs” filled with hot water, reaching 200 degrees centigrade, resembling under-water fire places and releasing different kinds of gases- mostly carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide, were found around the volcano. Another reservoir- 5 kilometers wide is situated under the volcano, filled with magma. A liquid, boiling substance is being released by this reservoir, causing the earthquakes and the other phenomena observed by the scientists.

To compare, the other volcano situated nearby is not causing any earthquakes, no release of submarine gases is observed and the gases evolving obove the sea-surface have a temperature of 17 degrees centigrade, i. e., it is in a quiet stage. Columbus is part of the Santorini volcanic center, belonging to the Volcanic group of the South Aegean, together with Susaki, Metana, Milos and Nisiros. This group appeared around 13 years ago when the north part of the African tectonic slab began submerging under Aegean sea’s slab.

Pentagon Plan: Cybercommand Will Be Run by Four-Star General --DoD views cyberspace as its domain as well, a new battleground after land, sea, air and space. 13 Jun 2009 A plan to create a new Pentagon cybercommand is raising significant privacy and diplomatic concerns, as the Obama administration moves ahead on efforts to 'protect the nation' from cyberattack and to prepare for possible offensive operations against adversaries' computer networks. Some administration officials have begun to discuss whether laws or regulations must be changed to allow law enforcement, the military or intelligence agencies greater access to networks or Internet providers when significant evidence of a 'national security threat' was found. Under plans being completed at the Pentagon, the new cybercommand will be run by a four-star general, much the way Gen. David H. Petraeus runs the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq from Central Command in Tampa, Fla.

New York drill for possible nuclear war --US security authorities have conducted a semi-clandestine nuclear fallout drill in the City of New York in order to be prepared "for the worst." 13 Jun 2009 The NYC Police Department (NYPD) in unison with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) carried out a massive almost-covert anti-nuclear exercise codenamed 'New York, you have a problem' in order to gauge the metropolitan promptness in responding to such attacks. According to an AP report on Friday, hundreds of NYPD officers and FBI agents participated in the drill that involved the detection of a gamma-ray emitting device concealed in the heart of the urban area. The group was also accompanied by an elite corps of federal weapons specialists who, under a US attorney general mandate, found a simulated "nuclear device" and diffused it.

Why the hell should I feel sorry, says girl soldier who abused Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison --In this deeply disturbing interview, the trailer trash torturer who appalled the world by appearing in shocking 'souvenir' photographs remains utterly unrepentant and says she has 800 MORE torture photos that could rock the White House By David Jones 13 Jun 2009 One of seven U.S. Army reserves jailed for mistreating prisoners at Abu Ghraib - including her former lover Corporal Charles Graner, a sadistic, camera-obsessed bully who orchestrated the photo sessions - she has served three years in detention and is now on parole. With a new book to peddle and her appeal against the conviction due to be heard next month, one might have expected the 26-year-old England to express some remorse... When we speak, three things strike me: her breathtaking lack of contrition; her unsuitability to have been a serving soldier and her utter indifference towards the horrifically abused prisoners at Abu Ghraib, 90 per cent of whom were later released without charge.

'Terrorists' can sue Bush legal abusers 14 Jun 2009 A US judge legalizes court actions by alleged 'terror convicts' against the legal advisors from the former administration who authorized their detention and torture. In an unprecedented move, San Francisco District Judge Jeffrey White ruled in favor of the legitimacy of such lawsuits in an attempt to discontinue, what he called, 'using tactics of terror' to fight 'a war against terror', the Associated Press reported on Saturday.

Judge: Ex-Bush lawyer can be sued over torture 13 Jun 2009 A prisoner who says he was tortured while being held for nearly four years as a suspected terrorist can sue former Bush regime lawyer John Yoo for coming up with the legal theories that justified his alleged treatment, a federal judge in San Francisco ruled Friday. U.S. District Judge Jeffrey White's decision marks the first time a government lawyer has been held potentially responsible for the abuse of detainees. "Like any other government official, government lawyers are responsible for the foreseeable consequences of their conduct," White said in refusing to dismiss Jose Padilla's lawsuit against Yoo. White said. White, an appointee of former President [sic] George W. Bush, noted that Padilla's lawsuit accuses Yoo of helping to design administration policy on detention and torture, and then crafting legal opinions to justify it - stepping outside the usual role of a lawyer.

US rejects Iran's election results 13 Jun 2009 The U.S. on Saturday refused to accept President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's claim of a landslide re-election victory in Iran and said it was looking into allegations of election fraud. Any hopes by the Obama administration of gaining a result similar to Lebanon's recent election, won by a Western-backed moderate coalition sycophant, appeared to be in jeopardy. [What a shame!] "We are monitoring the situation as it unfolds in Iran, but we, like the rest of the world, are waiting and watching to see what the Iranian people decide," U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said at a news conference with Canada's foreign affairs minister, Lawrence Cannon. [OMG! The Iranian people *have* decided -- in an *actual* election that uses *paper ballots* -- not Diebold! WHY didn't Hillary and Barack whine about 'election fraud' back in 2000 and 2004, when an unelected dictator and torturer seized and remained in power? --LRP]

U.S. monitors Iran election fallout 13 Jun 2009 The White House said Saturday it was monitoring the aftermath of presidential election in Iran, including allegations of irregularities in the voting. Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said in a written statement: "Like the rest of the world, we were impressed by the vigorous debate and enthusiasm that this election generated, particularly among young Iranians. We continue to monitor the entire situation closely, including reports of irregularities." [WHY no monitoring of GOP owned and operated electronic 'voting' software companies, responsible for two US coup d'etats? Hello, Pot? This is Kettle...]

In landslide victory, Ahmadinejad re-elected 13 Jun 2009 The final results of Iran's closely-contested 10th presidential election indicate that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has won a landslide victory. "Of 39,165,191 votes counted (85 percent), Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won the election with 24,527,516 (62.63 percent)," Interior Minister Sadeq Mahsouli told reporters on Saturday. Mir-Hossein Mousavi came in second with 13,216,411 votes (33.75 percent), he added. [The New York Times is calling the Iranian election outcome a 'tie' and they are showing a photo of the troll that lost. LOL. I love it when the US media spins other countries' elections and calls their processes/results 'corrupt' or 'specious.' These are the same cogs in the machinery that permitted -- nay, facilitated - two US GOP coup d'etats in 2000 and 2004. --LRP]

Iran rejects claims of voter fraud 13 Jun 2009 Iranian Interior Minister Sadeq Mahsouli says there has been no 'written complaint' about voter fraud. Iranian Interior Minister Sadeq Mahsouli has declared that the 10th presidential elections were conducted in a manner that ruled out the possibility of voter fraud. In a press conference at the Interior Ministry on Saturday, Mahsouli put the number of the total votes cast in the elections at 39,165,191, suggesting the heavy turnout to be a victory for the nation and not for a specific candidate.

Lawyers: Israel Used Uranium in Gaza genocide 11 Jun 2009 Lawyers investigating possible war crimes by Israel in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip Thursday said the Jewish state used uranium in recent offensive on the blockaded territory. Findings indicated that Israel heavily used uranium materials in its war in Gaza, Haitham Manna of the International Coalition for Trying Israeli War Criminals told a news conference in Gaza city. At first, a French lab "asked us to obtain license from Ukraine because they believed the samples were obtained from a place hit by Chernobyl accident due to the high amount of Uranium that were found," Manna told Xinhua.

Iraq holds state funeral for murdered lawmaker 13 Jun 2009 Iraq buried a murdered Sunni Muslim leader on Saturday in the first formal state funeral held by the government since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003. Harith al-Ubaidi, head of the biggest Sunni bloc in parliament and a leading human rights advocate, was shot dead at a mosque in west Baghdad after Friday prayers.

U.S. soldier killed in bomb attack in Iraq 13 Jun 2009 An American soldier was killed in a roadside bomb explosion during combat operations on Friday, the U.S. military said on Saturday. A military statement said the soldier is assigned to Multi-National Corps - Iraq (MNC-I), which is the Tactical Unit responsible for command and control of operations in Iraq.

US Embassy: 2 more US mercenaries released in Iraq 13 Jun 2009 Two more U.S. mercenaries have been released on bond but face an ongoing investigation, the embassy said Saturday. Two other Americans remained in custody while a fifth was freed on bond Thursday. U.S.-backed Iraqi forces detained the five Americans on June 3 in connection with an investigation into the stabbing death of a fellow contractor.

Mercenaries Set Off for Afghanistan 13 Jun 2009 ...Since Barack Obama announced that Afghanistan and Pakistan were the "central front" of the war against al-Qaeda, foreign mercenaries have been arriving... Returning from dinner on May 5, after an automobile accident, four paramilitaries working for an American company unheard of up until then, Paravant, machine-gunned an Afghan car, leaving one person dead and two wounded. The lawyer for the paramilitaries asserts that they were confronted with an insurgent attack, although the police investigation proved that the passengers in the vehicle were unarmed merchants. As in Iraq, as in other incidents in Afghanistan, justice will not be done: the men fled to the United States. However, the episode did reveal that Paravant, which has a contract to train the Afghan police, is a discreet subsidiary of Blackwater, the biggest mercenary company in the world and symbol of the privatization of war during the Bush years, involved in multiple killings and assassinations in Iraq and renamed Xe. It also revealed that these men respected neither the law nor their contract, bearing arms outside of their service, AK-47s that can be purchased in the black market for a few dollars.

Suicide attack on NATO fuel tankers kills 8 Afghans 13 Jun 2009 A suicide car bomber hit a fleet of fuel tankers intended for a NATO base in southern Afghanistan, killing eight Afghans and wounding 21, officials said Saturday. The attack in Helmand province late Friday burned six fuel tankers parked outside the town of Gereshk, said Dawood Ahmadi, the spokesman for the governor of Helmand. The trucks had been headed to a large NATO base that primarily houses U.S. and British troops.

Two British soldiers killed in Afghanistan blasts 13 Jun 2009 Two British soldiers have been killed by bombings in Afghanistan. A soldier from The 2nd Battalion the Rifles was killed as a result of an explosion during an operation near Sangin, northern Helmand Province, Afghanistan on Friday morning.

NKorea warns of nuclear war amid rising tensions 14 Jun 2009 North Korea's government has warned of a nuclear war on the Korean peninsula while vowing to step up its atomic bomb-making program in defiance of new U.N. sanctions. A commentary Sunday in the North's the main state-run Rodong Sinmun newspaper, carried by the official Korean Central News Agency, claimed the U.S. has 1,000 nuclear weapons in South Korea. Another commentary published Saturday in the Tongil Sinbo weekly claimed the U.S. has been deploying a vast amount of nuclear weapons in South Korea and Japan. North Korea "is completely within the range of U.S. nuclear attack and the Korean peninsula is becoming an area where the chances of a nuclear war are the highest in the world," the Tongil Sinbo commentary said.

Sub collides with sonar array towed by U.S. Navy ship 12 Jun 2009 In what a U.S. military official calls an "inadvertent encounter," a Chinese submarine hit an underwater sonar array being towed by the destroyer USS John McCain on Thursday. The array was damaged, but the sub and the ship did not collide, the official said. The incident occurred near Subic Bay off the coast of the Philippines.

US missile shield hurts NATO interests: UK MPs 13 Jun 2009 British members of parliament have expressed concern that plans for a US missile shield in Eastern Europe would jeopardize NATO interests in the region. Moscow has slammed Washington's bid to place the anti-missile system in two ex-soviet states, questioning US claims that the system is a measure against potential attacks from 'rouge states.'

'It's baffling to us why this would suddenly change.' Military Hush-Up: Incoming Space Rocks Now Classified 10 Jun 2009 For 15 years, scientists have benefited from data gleaned by U.S. classified satellites of natural fireball events in Earth's atmosphere – but no longer. A recent U.S. military policy decision now explicitly states that observations by hush-hush government spacecraft of incoming bolides and fireballs are classified secret and are not to be released, SPACE.com has learned. The satellites' main objectives include detecting nuclear bomb tests, and their characterizations of asteroids and lesser meteoroids as they crash through the atmosphere has been a byproduct data bonanza for scientists. The upshot: Space rocks that explode in the atmosphere are now classified.

Air France jet sent message on rudder problem 13 Jun 2009 A burst of automatic messages sent by Air France Flight 447 before it crashed includes one about a problem with a rudder safety device but lacks decisive clues as to what sent the jet plunging into the Atlantic Ocean two weeks ago, an aviation expert said Saturday. The industry official, who has knowledge of the Air France investigation, told The Associated Press that a transcript of the messages posted on the Web site EuroCockpit is authentic but inconclusive.

SoCal students quarantined in China over flu scare 13 Jun 2009 A private school in San Diego County says 36 of its students are being quarantined in China while being tested for the swine flu virus. Eileen Mullady, head of Pacific Ridge School in Carlsbad, says the ninth graders were at the end of a 13-day educational tour of the country when a few students developed the sniffles.

Australia Team Quarantined in Korea on Swine Flu Fear 14 Jun 2009 Australia’s under 21 lacrosse team has been quarantined in South Korea after one of the 26 members tested positive for swine flu, in the latest case of the nation exporting the virus to Asia. South Korea has prohibited the Australian team from attending a tournament and will quarantine all members to monitor them for seven days, the health ministry said in a statement late yesterday.

1918 Flu Resulted In Current Lineage of H1N1 Swine Influenza Viruses 01 May 2009 Juergen A. Richt, Regents Distinguished Professor of Diagnostic Medicine and Pathobiology at K-State's College of Veterinary Medicine, studied the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic with colleagues from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, U.S. Department of Agriculture and Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Their research supports the hypothesis that the 1918 pandemic influenza virus and the virus causing the swine flu were the same. Richt said the virus was able to infect and replicate in swine and cause mild respiratory disease. The 1918 virus spread through the pig population, adapted to the swine and resulted in the current lineage of the H1N1 swine influenza viruses. A.I.G. Balks at Claims From Jet Ditching in Hudson 12 Jun 2009 For the first couple of days after his flight ditched into the Hudson River, Paul Jorgenson was just glad to be alive. But then he started to need his laptop, his wallet, his car keys -- items he had stowed under his seat and left behind in the sinking plane... Then the matter shifted to US Airways’ insurer, the American International Group, operating under government stewardship since its bailout last fall. "Everything went downhill," said Mr. Jorgenson, a software executive in Charlotte, N.C., whose laptop and keys have not been recovered.

In April, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that an American Civil Liberties Union lawsuit against Boeing subsidiary, Jeppesen DataPlan Inc., for its role in the Bush administration's unlawful "extraordinary rendition" program could proceed, but today the government asked the appeals court's full panel of judges to rehear that decision.

CIA: Finding bin Laden top U.S. priority 12 Jun 2009 Finding al-Qaida [al-CIAduh] leader Osama bin Laden, believed still in hiding in Pakistan, remains a top priority for the United States, CIA Director Leon Panetta said. Panetta told reporters the United States has people in Pakistan "who are helping us provide targets," the BBC reported Friday. Pakistan's military operation against Taliban militants will improve the chances of locating bin Laden, believed to be hiding out in the rugged region along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border [LOL!], Panetta said.

It is time for all of us to demand that the School of the Americas be closed. THEY NO LONGER KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RIGHT AND WRONG

Date: Sunday, 14-Jun-2009 10:00:42

It is time for the SCHOOL OF THE AMERICAS: SCHOOLS OF ASSASSINS, U.S.A. TO BE CLOSED; THOSE INVOLVED "DE-PROGRAMED"; THEY NO LONGER KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RIGHT and WRONG. BY THIS METHOD OF 'PROGRAMING'.. THE LONG ESTABLISHED LAWS OF CIVILIZED SOCIETIES DESIGNED TO KEEP THE PEACE have been overturned resulting in GLOBAL UNREST as WRONG has become RIGHT and RIGHT HAS BECOME WRONG.'
Our country, for generations, a beacon of liberty and democracy to the world, should play no part in subverting democracy and killing hope in other countries. Americans who condemn world terror should condemn just as strongly America's training of Third World terrorists.

I am not "anti American".. but I am AN AMERICAN WITH OLD FASHIONED PRINCIPLES AS TO "WHAT AMERICA SHOULD BE".. That is why I took my Oath to Uphold, Protect and Defend the Constitution of the United States, Against all Parties, Foreign and Domestic."

There are those who will tell you THE CONSTITUTION is not for WE, THE PEOPLE. On the contrary! The Purpose and Intent of the contents in those SEVEN ARTICLES OF LAW i.e., CONSTITUTION were designed to protect WE, the People from those acts as set forth in: DECLARATION AND RESOLVES OF THE FIRST CONTINENTAL CONGRESS October 14, 1774 [Intolerable Acts] 1. http://www.theantechamber.net/UsHistDoc/DecResFirCon/DecResPage1.html , 2. http://www.theantechamber.net/UsHistDoc/DecResFirCon/DecResPage2.html , and 3. http://www.theantechamber.net/UsHistDoc/DecResFirCon/DecResPage3.html

The end result was THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE http://www.theantechamber.net/UsHistDoc/DocOfAmeriHist/DocOfAmeriHist24.html

Which brought about those SEVEN ARTICLES OF LAW (CONSTITUTION) OF TRADE AND COMMERCE which by CONSTITUTION was forbidden to conduct business as formerly conducted and DECLARED in THE INTOLERABLE ACTS and DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE.

To insure this from ever happening again, the BILL OF RIGHTS were added by some very concerned representatives of WE the People.

There are some who would like you to believe "THE CONSTITUTION IS AN OLD ANCIENT DOCUMENT WHICH IS FOR "OLDER AMERICANS" IT DOES NOT "PROTECT" THE YOUNG AMERICANS.

HOGWASH! The CONSTITUTION is INHERITED by the OFFSPRING of those who came and went befor us.. WE ARE THE INHERITORS of the GREATEST ESTATE ever left to BENEFICIARIES of any estate. WE the People inherited THE CONSTITUTION "FOR" THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and THE BILL OF RIGHTS. Which set the guidelines and the pattern for SELF GOVERNANCE and "CONSENT" to be represented fairly and squarely, AND NOT TO HAVE OUR COUNTRY SOLD OFF PIECE BY PIECE, OR TO BE SOLD OFF AS LIVESTOCK as in Executive Order 12803.

Title 3. Executive order 12803 of April 30, 1992. 57 FR 19063 / May 4,1992 http://www.theantechamber.net/UsHistDoc/Exord12803/Exord12803Index.html

Or to be sold to THE CROWN OF ENGLAND.

SOCIAL SECURITY

Our formerly Military Service Personnel who became Presidents, representatives and JUDGES ON THE BENCH'S OF THE COURTS OF WE THE PEOPLE can no longer distinguish the difference RIGHT or WRONG. These individuals no longer recognize THEIR SWORN DUTY OF OATH OF OFFICE OF PUBLIC TRUST.. which is a very dangerous situation for ALL AMERICANS. [vkd]

LETS NOW TAKE A LOOK AT THIS "SCHOOL OF THE AMERICAS"..(which incidentally is written by an 'ex Ranking-CIA'..)

School of the Americas:
School of Assassins, USA

The School of the Americas

World War II was the "good war". After that conflict, most Americans believed that US intentions in the world were noble -- the US was the punisher of aggression and a warrior for freedom. This image was for generations of Americans the measure by which they judged their country in world affairs. The war in Vietnam ended the illusion that America was always on the "right side". Today, America's image as a defender of democracy and justice has been further eroded by the School of the Americas (SOA), which trains Latin American and Caribbean military officers and soldiers to subvert democracy and kill hope in their own countries.

Founded by the United States in 1946, the SOA was initially located in Panama, but in 1984 it was kicked out under the terms of the Panama Canal Treaty and moved to the army base at Fort Benning, Georgia. Then-President of Panama Jorge Illueca called it "the biggest base for de-stabilization in Latin America," and a major Panamanian newspaper dubbed it " The School of Assassins."

Today, SOA instructors and students are recruited from the cream of the Latin American military establishment. The School trains 700-2,000 soldiers a year, and since its inception in 1946, more than 60,000 military personnel have graduated from the SOA.

If the SOA concentrated its training on protecting country borders from foreign aggression or safeguarding citizens from invasion by outside enemies, it would be considered an exemplary institution, worth the cost of American tax dollars and US prestige. But, the SOA has very different goals. Its curriculum includes courses in psychological warfare, counterinsurgency, interrogation techniques, and infantry and commando tactics. Presented with the most sophisticated and up-to-date techniques by the US Army's best instructors, these courses teach military officers and soldiers of Third World countries to subvert the truth, to muzzle union leaders, activist clergy, and journalists, and to make war on their own people. It prepares them to subdue the voices of dissent and to make protesters submit. It instructs them in techniques of marginalizing the poor, the hungry, and the dispossessed. It tells them how to stamp out freedom and terrorize their own citizens. It trains them to destroy the hope of democracy.

The School of the Americas (SOA) has been given other names -- "School for Dictators", "School of Assassins", and "Nursery of Death Squads". And, countries with the worst human rights records send the most soldiers to the School.
Countries / Graduates (since 1946)
Argentina / 931
Bolivia / 4,049
Brazil / 355
Chile / 2,405
Colombia / 8,679
Costa Rica / 2,376
Dominican Republic / 2,330
Ecuador / 2,356
El Salvador / 6,776
Guatemala / 1,676
Honduras / 3,691
Nicaragua / 4,693
Panama / 4,235
Paraguay / 1,084
Peru / 3,997
Uruguay / 931
Venezuela / 3,250

When they return to their home countries, graduates of the SOA hold a rather unique and peculiar view of their countrymen. They look upon priests, social workers, journalists, and liberal intellectuals, not as assets to their societies, but as dangerous subversives, working to undermine the system that keeps these soldiers, army officers, and their sponsors in power.

Graduates of the SOA have been among the most repressive tyrants in Latin America, and their actions have been some of the most cruel and violent. In El Salvador, in 1989, a Salvadoran army patrol executed six Jesuit priests as they lay face-down on the ground at Central America University. According to the United Nation's Truth Commission Report on El Salvador in 1993, 19 of the 27 officers who took part in the executions were trained at the SOA.

In 1990, in El Salvador, populist Archbishop Oscar Romero was assassinated. Three-quarters of the Salvadoran officers implicated in the killing were trained at the SOA. Roberto D'Aubuison, the late leader of El Salvador's Death Squad, was implicated in the plot to assassinate Archbishop Romero. He also participated in numerous murders, including a massacre in the village of El Mazote, where more than 900 men, women, and children were killed. He graduated from SOA as well.
The U.N. Truth Commission's statistics reveal the extent of the School's murderous role in El Salvador .

Romero assassination 3 officers cited --- 2 were SOA graduates
Murder of US nuns 5 officers cited --- 3 were SOA graduates
Union leader murders 3 officers cited --- 3 were SOA graduates
El Junquillo massacre 3 officers cited --- 2 were SOA graduates
El Mazote massacre 12 officers cited --- 10 were SOA graduates
Dutch journalist murders 1 officer cited --- he was an SOA graduate
Las Hojas massacre 6 officers cited --- 3 were SOA graduates
San Sebastian massacre 7 officers cited --- 6 were SOA graduates
Jesuit massacre 26 officers cited --- 19 were SOA graduates

In other Latin American countries, graduates of the SOA have been equally prominent enemies of human rights. Former dictators Omar Torrijos of Panama, Guillermo Rodriguez of Ecuador, and Juan Velasco Alvarado of Peru, all overthrew constitutionally elected governments in their countries. Leopoldo Galtieri, the former head of the Argentina junta defeated in the Falklands War, was responsible for thousands of "disappeared" citizens who supported freedom and democracy in Argentina, and paid the ultimate price with their lives. He was an SOA graduate.

In Honduras, General Humberto Ragalado Hernandez, was trained at the SOA at the same time that he was linked to Columbian drug cartels, and the highest ranking officers in the Honduran Death Squad were trained at SOA as well.

In Peru, the most senior officers convicted of the February 1994 murder of nine university students and a professor, were graduates of the SOA. In Columbia, a 1992 human rights tribunal cited 246 officers for crimes against the people of Columbia. 105 of the officers were trained at the SOA. In Panama, ex-dictator Manuel Noriega, formerly on the CIA payroll, graduated from the SOA. He is now in a US prison, convicted of trafficking in drugs.

In Guatemala, a country of 10 million, the indigenous Mayan population of 6 million have endured the greatest suffering in Latin America. During more than 30 years of civil war, tens-of-thousands have been slaughtered, with the total killed estimated to exceed 200,000. Most of the ranking generals involved in the numerous coups and acts of terror and murder during this period were trained at the SOA.

In the 1970s and early 1980s, in Guatemala, thousands of political activists and opponents of government policies were assassinated. General Manuel Antonio Callejas y Callejas, Chief of Army Intelligence at the time, was cited by the UN as the individual responsible for most of those murders. He graduated from the SOA. One of the most vicious tyrants in recent Guatemalan history is Jose Efrain Rios Montt. General, dictator, and a former president from 1982-83, Rios Montt was proud of his political philosophy of "beans for the obedient; bullets for the rest". He was also a graduate of the SOA.

The impact of SOA graduates on Latin American freedom has been devastating. Armed with sophisticated training, modern weapons, and up-to-date techniques of control and surveillance, graduates of the SOA have terrorized their own countrymen for a generation.

In the name of its citizens and using American taxpayer dollars, the United States, the most-democratic of countries, has for decades been training some of the most anti-democratic leaders in the world. Administrations that have decried terrorism abroad, have encouraged terrorists right here at home -- at the SOA.

Our country, for generations, a beacon of liberty and democracy to the world, should play no part in subverting democracy and killing hope in other countries. Americans who condemn world terror should condemn just as strongly America's training of Third World terrorists. It is time for all of us to demand that the School of the Americas be closed.

What you can do

Call, fax, or write the President, and your Senators and Representative. Ask them to end funding for the SOA and stop training terrorists and murderers in America.

Ask them to support House of Representatives Bill -- HR 2652 -- introduced by Representative Joseph Kennedy (D-MA). This bill would close the School of the Americas and establish in its place an Academy for Democracy and Civil-Military Relations, to identify the proper role of the military in a democratic society and bring about civilian control over military matters in Latin America.

Father Roy Bourgeois founded SOA Watch to inform the American public about " the School of Assassins" and to close it down. But, he cannot do it alone. He needs the support of all Americans who abhor the training of terrorists and murderers in this country. Support SOA Watch and Father Roy Bourgeois at:
