SolarHam.com | Long Duration Flare - Solar X-Ray levels nearing M1.0 Level

Updated 7/17/2012 @ 15:05 UTC
About to Say GoodBye
Below is a new image by SDO on Tuesday morning showing active Sunspots 1520-1521 heading for the southwest limb. We are now getting a great side angle view of these regions. It appears that a long duration flare is in progress as the Solar X-Ray levels are slowly nearing the M1.0 level. A CME plasma cloud looks to be lifting off the southwest limb.

This new image by Lasco C2 shows a CME Plasma Cloud about to billow away from the Sun.

Updated image of a very bright Coronal Mass Ejection billowing away off the southwest limb. So far it appears to be directed mostly towards the south and west.
