On September 30 , 2009 19W rapidly intensified from a tropical storm to a category 4 typhoon . In 24 hours the storm system went from 59. kts to 124. kts . An increase of 65 kts in less than a 24 hour period. . Once the threshold was reached the storm began to weaken rapidly

I think once more a strom has fooled managed to fool forecasters . The predictions up to 9-29-2009 @18 Z was that this storm would at best reach 85 kts and would only brush the Philippines . Before September the 30th ended the storm rapidly intensified to 124.6 kts
