Hail, damaging winds, and a few possible tornadoes ... across MULTIPLE states... each state listed below currently has some form of hail, damaging wind, strong cell thunderstorm, or possible tornado detected. 
Watch the east coast and midwest as the system over the gulf rotates CLOCKWISE.. and the other system coming in from the NW taps into the southern flow from mexico/steaming area up the front range of the USA.
States either currently under severe, or will be shortly over the next few hours (730pm CDT 7/2/2012 now)
Maine, New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Vermont, New Hampshire, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, Louisiana, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, North Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington state, Canada (winnipeg to thunder bay.. extending far north towards Hudson Bay)... Also British Columbia Canada.
