SOLAR UPDATE
BIG SUNSPOTS: NOAA forecasters estimate a 40% chance of M-class solar flares today. The source would be one of three big sunspots emerging along the sun's northeastern limb.
M-Class Flare Watch: An M1.1 Solar Flare took place on Wednesday and the chances are increasing for more moderate Solar Flares with the presence of three big Sunspots located in the northern hemisphere. So far most of the activity has been centered around Sunspot 1260, but that could soon change. Each of these Sunspots span the size of several planet earths across.
Solar Update: The visible solar disk consists of three numbered regions 1260, 1261, 1262 and also two new un-numbered sunspots. Sunspot 1260 is currently the source of most flare activity and has a Beta-Gamma magnetic classification. Sunspot 1261 which is located just to the east of 1260 is also a large sunspot but remains fairly quiet thus far. A new region numbered 1262 is located towards the northwest and was initially given a Beta-Gamma-Delta classification, but it appears this spot is already fading away. A fourth region which could be numbered 1263 or 1264 on Thursday is now rotating into view on the eastern limb and is a large group. A small sunspot did rotate into view on the southeast limb and may fetch the other number. Continue to monitor the X-Ray flux for further flare activity on Thursday.
