KFAB Omaha | An employee at the Ft. Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant is airlifted to a Lincoln burn center Thursday.

OPPD reports the employee was refilling a gas tank on a portable pump outside the security building when the pump caught fire. The employee suffered burns to his arms and face while trying to put out the fire. The employee was then air lifted to Lincoln for treatment.

OPPD says the pumps remove water that seep under barriers. The security building is not part of the power plant and the plant itself was not in danger.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission NRC has been notified of the incident.
