About 11,000 people were evacuated from Minot neighborhoods nearest the river.
FLOOD IN-PROGRESS RULE MAY GO
ALSO AT OMAHA.COM:The Omaha District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to temporarily halt releases from the regulating tunnels at Garrison Dam in central North Dakota on Monday for a routine inspection of tunnel walls.
Using remotely operated cameras, the inspection is scheduled to start at 1 p.m., take several hours and should be completed by late Monday afternoon.
The inspection will assess the performance of the tunnel walls after recent, prolonged water releases. The shutdown is temporary and non-emergency.
Dam inspections are conducted more frequently during high water events, corps officials said during a daily flood update conference call.
"Although the river stages are dropping slowly," Col. Bob Ruch with the corps said, "no one is becoming complacent."
